Volunteer Coordinator

Living in differing geographies her whole life, Kolaya found special communities to live within the South, New England, and the Bay Area. Throughout all her adventures across the USA, Kolaya never stopped seeking to fill her life with horses and impacting people in a positive way. Moving to the Midwest, Kolaya joined SMILES as a volunteer in 2024 and shortly after became the Volunteer Coordinator in 2025. Although she is living over 2,000 miles away from home, the team, clients, volunteers, and horse herd at SMILES make her feel she has developed a family here too.  Kolaya achieved her Masters in Fine Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara with additional studies in Art History and the Pillars of Teaching in 2021. In her spare time Kolaya enjoys hiking, reading, making art, riding horses, and spending time with her boys at home (both two and four legged).
